Book Review: “Boobin’ All Day Boobin’ All Night”

Boobin' All Day Boobin' All Night

I recently read a brilliant book called “Boobin’ All Day Boobin’ All Night” by Meg Nagle, an Australia based International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. It was my very first Amazon Kindle purchase as I wanted an on-the-go version. I finished it in 2 days because I could not put it down, and that’s while keeping up with a 13 month old!

It’s no secret that I LOVE The Milk Meg! I accidentally found her Facebook Page shortly after giving birth to Zoey as I was seeking breastfeeding support, and have been addicted to her page ever since. After seeing the type of content she posts and applying her recommendations and guidance, I strongly believe that every mama needs a little bit of The Milk Meg in their life!

Boobin’ All Day Boobin’ All Night

This book is for those looking for gentle parenting suggestions, an understanding of what is normal in breastfed babies/toddlers and what to do when everyone says your way of mothering (or parenting) through breastfeeding is not best, even when you’re confident it is what is best for your baby and family.

The last few words in the description of the book, found on The Milk Meg‘s website, sums it up for me; “When you know in your heart that it is”. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be breastfeeding my 13 month old baby, “Ugh…no way! They have teeth!” is what I would often say. But here I am, with a very energetic and fierce little lady napping away while attached to my boob as I write this post. Why? Because in my heart it’s what feels right for me and my baby.

The book covers the entire breastfeeding journey, from following your baby’s birth to gentle weaning. I was particularly interested in advice on advice on night weaning and transitioning your little one to their own bed after bed-sharing. The wonderful part is that Meg shares anecdotes from her own experience raising 3 boys.

I love the way Meg writes; it’s real and relatable as if you’re chatting away with a fellow mama at a coffee shop. It’s a shorter read which is a pleasure when you’re busy mama; but that’s not the reason why I finished the book so quickly. I finished it in lighting speed because I just couldn’t put it down! I looked forward to reading more about her experiences, stories and advice – they were all so insightful and informative.

I recommend this book to all parents looking to understand their babies and/or for those looking to take a gentle approach to parenting. This book is a reflection of parenting from the heart, raising your children through love and cuddles.
